VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Program Coordinator

We are seeking a dedicated VITA Coordinator to lead and manage operations at multiple VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) sites throughout Los Angeles county. This position oversees free tax preparation services for low- to moderate income individuals and families, supervises and trains volunteers, and ensures compliance with IRS and program guidelines. Key Responsibilities: 

Site Management

  • Schedule and oversee multiple VITA sites across Los Angeles County
  • Manage day-to-day site operations, workflow, staffing, and quality control
  • Coordinate logistics including calendars, volunteer shifts, and client scheduling
  • Ensure sites have the necessary materials and follow IRS regulations 
  • Maintain complete and accurate records for reporting and program evaluations
  • Prepare required reports for internal purposes, funders, and the IRS 

Volunteer Training and Support

  • Recruit, train, supervise, and support VITA volunteers.
  • Provide instruction on IRS standards and site procedures 
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative volunteer environment
  • Review returns prepared by volunteers for accuracy, improvements, and adherence to IRS standards

Client Service

  • Provide direct assistance to clients with financial and tax related issues 
  • Resolve issues while maintaining a professional, respectful attitude
  • Ensure confidentiality and a high standard of customer service when dealing with sensitive financial information

Community Outreach 

  • Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations including schools
  • Coordinate outreach and education efforts to share VITA with community members
  • Represent Haven Services and our VITA program in a positive manner at events, presentations, and meetings
