Work Study Intern - Public Relations (Fall/Winter)
The Public Relations & Communications Intern will support the Department of Aviation’s Communications Unit in developing, organizing, and distributing internal and external communications. The intern will gain hands-on experience in newsroom writing, media coordination, and internal project support. This role provides valuable exposure to storytelling, digital content management, and the behind-the-scenes work that shapes how the airport engages with staff, stakeholders, and the public.

Key Responsibilities
1. Writing & Content Development
· Assist in drafting and editing newsroom articles for publication on PHL.org.
· Write and proofread speaking points, press materials, and internal documents for department leaders.
· Support the development of employee spotlights, feature stories, and community engagement highlights.
· Collaborate with team members to ensure all content aligns with PHL’s brand and tone.
2. Intranet Rollout Project Support
· Assist with the new Intranet rollout project by coordinating with various airport departments to catalog, tag, and inventory documents.
· Document and organize content for publication on the new internal platform.
· Review and verify materials for consistency, accuracy, and accessibility.
· Maintain logs or spreadsheets tracking departmental submissions and content readiness.
3. Media Coordination & Event Support
· Support media coordination efforts, including scheduling, logistics, and documentation of media interactions.
· Assist during press events, interviews, and internal or external special events as needed.
· Help prepare press kits, talking points, or event summaries for leadership and communication distribution.
· Participate in on-site activities, including photography support or note-taking.
4. Administrative & Reporting Assistance
· Track newsroom postings, communication deliverables, and media coverage.
· Assist in preparing weekly or monthly reports summarizing communication highlights and outreach activities.
· Help maintain organized folders, databases, and communication templates used by the department.
