Spring Semester Museum Education Internship

Historic St. George’s Museum and Archives exists in the oldest Methodist church building in America, bought in 1769. We house thousands of objects, photographs, documents and ephemera related to the development of Methodism in America. We are dedicated to maintaining, preserving, and sharing our rich history. 
 

Position Overview 

Historic St. George’s Museum and Archives education intern will be working with our team to create brand new programs for America’s 250 birthday and helping our staff prepare for our grand reopening. This position will help students gain real world experience undergoing a mass remodel of exhibits. 

 

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and executing museum events. This includes aligning programs to PA State Standards when necessary. 
  • Assist in planning and executing community/ charitable events, including helping set up and taking down events and programs.
  • Able to pass a background check, work with children, give tours and share our history with guests of all ages.
  • Create new interactive displays and interpretive hands-on activities relating to exhibits.
  • Help catalog and digitize our collection. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
     

Important Notification

  •  On-Site role of 25-30 hours per week 
  • Stipend of $4,000
  • Approximate start is February 1, 2026. Approximate end is May 1, 2026
  • Ideal candidates must be enrolled or recently graduated from a college or university with a degree in history, museum studies, public history, education or a related field.
