Maintenance Technician Intern
Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician Intern will support the Michigan City CVG plant by assisting with routine equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and continuous improvement projects. This internship provides hands-on experience with industrial machinery, preventive maintenance processes, and manufacturing support activities. The role is designed to develop foundational technical skills that prepare the intern for a future full-time maintenance position.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Assist maintenance technicians with troubleshooting and repairing production equipment, tools, fixtures, and machinery.
Perform preventive maintenance tasks as assigned, including lubrication, inspections, adjustments, and basic part replacements.
Support installation, setup, and testing of new machinery or equipment modifications.
Help diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues under supervision.
Maintain accurate documentation, including PM logs, repair notes, and spare parts tracking.
Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO), safety standards, and proper use of tools and PPE.
Clean and organize maintenance areas, shop tools, and equipment storage.
Assist with small fabrication tasks such as cutting, drilling, simple welding (if trained), and assembling components.
Support continuous improvement or cost-reduction initiatives within the maintenance department.
Respond to maintenance calls as directed by senior maintenance staff.
