Teacher Resource Center Manager

Position Summary The Teacher Resource Center Manager, leads the daily operations of the Kids In Need Foundation’s flagship Teacher Resource Center (TRC) in Minnesota. This role ensures a high-quality, mission-aligned experience for educators by effectively managing employees, volunteers, inventory, and policies and procedures. The Manager is responsible for hiring, training, and supervising staff, managing budgets, and working with the TRC team to create resources for teachers and activities to engage volunteers. As a key leader on the Mission Impact team, the Manager collaborates closely with the National Network Manager, Director of Impact and Outcomes, and Director of National School Relations to identify and incorporate best practices for the Center and for local school outreach.
Key Responsibilities
Staff Supervision & Program Oversight
● Ensure successful daily operations of the Teacher Resource Center (TRC).
● Lead hiring, onboarding, training, and performance reviews for TRC staff.
● Lead th e recruitment, o nboarding, supervision, and engagement of TRC volunteers.
● Provide regular feedback, set clear expectations, and support professional development for direct reports.
● Ensure TRC staff align with the Foundation’s mission and uphold high standards of service for teachers and volunteers.
● Manage scheduling and staffing plans to maintain consistent coverage and optimal operations during high and low peak times.
● Maintain awareness of daily operations and delegate responsibilities appropriately, while holding team members accountable to standard operating procedures.
● Assist with emergency shift coverage to ensure uninterrupted store operations.
Strategic Planning & Program Leadership
● Develop and implement strategic plans to expand local (Minnesota) educator engagement and participation.
● Design, monitor, and evaluate local programming that aligns with Mission Impact goals and KINF initiatives.
● Serve as a local ambassador for the TRC and KINF’s broader mission.
● Partner with Director, Impact & Outcomes to define success metrics and evaluate outcomes for TRC initiatives.
● Partner with the Director, National School Relations, to design effective and successful school outreach efforts.
● Review and approve TRC Educator Associate’s' “Grab & Go” classroom activities to ensure quality, relevance, and alignment with educator needs.
Team Management & Culture
● Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and mission-driven team culture that prioritizes service to educators.
● Conduct regular check-ins, goal-setting meetings, and performance reviews with TRC team members, including part-time/seasonal staff.
● Provide clear leadership and direction to ensure a high-functioning and efficient team environment. Budget & Operational Oversight
● Develop and manage the annual TRC program budget in alignment with organizational priorities.
● Monitor expenses, steward resources responsibly, and maintain accurate reporting.
● Oversee TRC operations to ensure consistency, efficiency, and innovation in service delivery.
● Ensure store systems and standard operating procedures are followed and optimized for continuous improvement.
● Ensure regular review and updates of standard operating procedures, and verify that all staff are appropriately trained and consistently following them.
Product & Programming Strategy
● Partner with the National Network Manager and Director, Impact & Outcomes to evaluate daily product offerings.
● Make informed decisions about needed TRC products and prioritize inventory that aligns with local educator needs.
● Assess and enhance local programming based on educator feedback, classroom trends, and school administration input.
Partnership & National Network Collaboration
● Build and maintain strong relationships with affiliate leaders in KINF’s National Network of Resource Centers.
● Stay informed about best practices, innovations, and trends across the network and integrate them locally.
● Collaborate with the National Network Manager, Director, Impact & Outcomes, Director, National School Programs, and VP, Mission Impact to ensure program alignment and effective knowledge sharing.
● Represent the TRC in cross-functional meetings and strategic planning efforts.
Local Outreach & Community Engagement
● Serve as the primary contact for Minnesota schools, local education partners, and community-based organizations.
● Deliver presentations to schools and community groups to promote TRC programs and deepen engagement.
● Collaborate with the Director, National School Relations, to design and implement outreach strategies to build awareness and drive educator participation. Continuous Improvement
● Lead ongoing assessment of TRC processes to promote operational excellence and high-quality customer service.
● Stay current on PreK–12 educational trends and evolving needs of educators and classrooms.
● Partner with the Director, Impact & Outcomes to support data collection, reporting, and insights that drive strategy and demonstrate local impact. Additional Duties Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational goals and ensure the success of the TRC.
Required Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in education, nonprofit management, related field, or equivalent experience
● Minimum of 5 years of experience in program management, nonprofit leadership, or educational services
● Experience supervising staff and managing volunteers
● Strong leadership, team management, and organizational skills
● Experience managing budgets, operations, and program resources
● Knowledge of PreK–12 education, classroom needs, and school systems
● Experience in strategic planning, program development, and process improvement
● Ability to build and maintain partnerships with internal teams, affiliates, schools, and community organizations
● Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
● Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Physical Demands
● Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during store hours
● Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds regularly (e.g., stocking shelves, moving boxes)
● Frequent bending, reaching, and stretching required to organize inventory and maintain displays
● Occasional assistance with larger shipments or event setup
● Ability to learn and safely operate a pallet jack
Compensation & Benefits Salary range:
● $63,000 - $70,000 annually
