First Grade Classroom Teacher Position Description
The Teacher is responsible for the fulfillment of the school’s mission and works in harmony with the school’s policies. The Teacher develops and carries out the program to achieve the responsibilities assigned. The Teacher reports to the Principal regarding the progress and effectiveness of the plans and programs.

General Qualifications:
- Associates closely with God through prayer, study of the Scriptures and regular church and communion attendance.
- Has up to date knowledge of child development and how young children learn.

- Is capable of managing a group of young children.
- Can work well and communicate with parents.

Specific Qualifications:
- Be certified/licensed by the State of Ohio.
- Have the appropriate degree and training for the position.
- Keep a written plan of daily class activities.
- Develop curriculum to meet developmental goals and instructional activities
- Prepare lesson materials, grade papers, manage the classroom, and evaluate and give feedback to students
- Exercise open and respectful communication with families, co-workers, supervisors, and other school staff
- Measure progress and accomplishments of students towards their academic achievements on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required
- Create and keep records on attendance, accidents, incidents, and other noteworthy events in accordance with school guidelines
- Manage student behavior in accordance with outlined guidelines
- Provide a safe, thriving, and respectful environment for all students in the classroom and on the school campus
- Provide written guidelines for substitutes.
- Give guidance and direction to teacher assistants and volunteers.
- Use Christian disciplinary methods.
- Be responsible for playground supervision as assigned.
