About the role
This critical role is at the forefront of our truck acquisition strategy, focusing on comprehensive market analysis, identifying new sourcing channels, and proactively prospecting and qualifying top-tier truck suppliers across the United States. You will be instrumental in expanding Billor's network of high-quality, reliable truck sources to meet our ambitious fleet growth objectives.
Responsibilities
Market Intelligence & Strategic Analysis
Conduct comprehensive market research to identify emerging truck and trailer supply trends, pricing dynamics, and innovative solutions (digital platforms, alternative powertrains, connected fleet technologies).
Translate industry data and innovation trends into actionable strategic insights that guide procurement and product decisions.
New Supplier & Solution Prospecting
Proactively identify, evaluate, and engage with both traditional suppliers and new technology or service providers - including manufacturers, large dealerships, fleet owners, auction houses, brokers, and companies offering innovative logistics or fleet optimization solutions, that align with Billor’s standards for quality, scalability, and cost.
Supplier Qualification & Onboarding Collaboration
Collaborate closely with the Supplier Quality & Development team to onboard new suppliers and solution partners, ensuring compliance and alignment with Billor’s sourcing strategy and technical requirements.
Relationship Management
Build and maintain long-term, strategic relationships with key partners, not only suppliers but also innovation and technology players, to foster collaboration and maximize long-term value.
Negotiation & Contract Support
Support early-stage negotiations for commercial and strategic partnerships, analyzing value propositions, pricing, and total ownership implications to enable optimal decision-making.
Sourcing Pipeline & Innovation Funnel Management
Develop and manage a robust pipeline of potential suppliers and solution providers, tracking progress from initial contact to full qualification.
Maintain visibility into emerging technologies, sustainability initiatives, and digital solutions impacting truck and trailer operations.
Performance Insight & Feedback
Provide data-backed feedback and market intelligence to leadership, supporting continuous improvement and innovation in sourcing strategy.
Industry Awareness & Foresight
Stay ahead of industry disruptions, new vehicle technologies, alternative fuels, telematics, and regulatory shifts shaping the commercial truck and trailer markets.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or business development within
- the automotive, heavy equipment, or commercial trucking/trailer industry.
- Demonstrated experience in identifying new technologies, market innovations, and solution partners that enhance sourcing or operational efficiency.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills; able to connect market insights with actionable sourcing strategies.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Self-starter, organized, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience with truck or trailer procurement, or with digital/fleet technology solutions.
- Familiarity with leading truck OEMs and models (Freightliner, Kenworth, Peterbilt, Volvo) and their evolving technology landscape.
- Experience in high-growth or innovation-driven organizations.
- Understanding of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and how technological solutions impact lifecycle costs.
