Overview 

The Advancement Associate reports to the Senior Director of Major Gifts and Individual Support (MGIS) and provides fundraising and administrative support to Advancement leadership related to donor research, proposal and budget development for special programs, donor agreement execution, leadership administrative support, CRM data entry and donor stewardship. This position may manage a small portfolio of individual donors. 

The Advancement Associate serves as an integral member of the MGIS team, works as a partner to Advancement leadership and functions synergistically with members of the Advancement department in support of the mission of the CDC Foundation. They must work seamlessly with CDC Foundation staff and external partners. This position will be hybrid reporting into the Atlanta, GA headquarters office. 

 

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, nonprofit management or related field preferred. 

• 1-3 years of experience in administrative support and/or advancement, fundraising, or donor relations in a nonprofit setting. 

• Experience in public health/health care environment or funding for scientific research preferred. 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

• Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team, providing support to senior staff as well as managing a portfolio of their own projects. 

• Professional presence with the ability to establish confidence and trust among internal and external stakeholders. 

• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple activities simultaneously and effectively. 

• A demonstrated ability to complete assignments in a timely and effective manner and deliver results under tight deadlines. 

• Excellent computer and data management skills/proficiency in Word, Outlook and Excel required; Salesforce experience highly preferred. 

• Adherence to the Code of Ethical Principles of the National Society of Fundraising Executives (NSFRE) and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). 

• A cover letter and resume are required for submission for consideration for the position.

 

Duties

• Create, edit, finalize and send fundraising correspondence, proposals, one pagers and stewardship materials for donors and prospects. This includes managing the donor acknowledgment process and special stewardship for our donor societies. 

• Assist in the creation and implementation of customized stewardship plans and participate in stewardship activities as necessary. 

• Support organizational gift acceptance processes and ensure complete and accurate documentation in the CRM. 

• Represent the Foundation as needed with a wide range of external constituencies, including individuals, foundations, corporations, other potential donors and public health colleagues. 

• Provide fundraising and administrative support to senior Advancement staff, including some complex meeting scheduling. 

• Coordinate travel arrangements and submit reimbursements via Concur for Advancement executives. Arrange travel as necessary for other Advancement team members outside of Concur. 

• Organize and facilitate internal and external meetings, including special donor events as needed. 

• Support Advancement Committee coordination, including meeting logistics, materials and scheduling as necessary. 

• In coordination with other Advancement staff, assist with event and donor tracking reporting and data quality maintenance. 

• Manage inventory of Advancement office supplies, placing orders for new supplies when needed. Also, coordinate shipping of materials to donors, committee members and remote staff. 

• Process invoices, create purchase orders in NetSuite and enter data and create and route agreements in Salesforce. 

• Develop, maintain and master a working knowledge of CDC Foundation programs and activities. 

• Participate in a variety of staff activities, projects and assignments. 

• Undertake other responsibilities as assigned.
