Director of Fulfillment Operations
DIRECTOR OF FULFILLMENT OPERATIONS - NEW PIG CORPORATION
(DISTRIBUTION, WAREHOUSE, LOGISTICS, SUPPLY CHAIN, LEADERSHIP)
As a senior leadership team member, the Director of Fulfillment provides leadership, vision and support for our fulfillment operations. This position directs and implements the operational strategy, business processes and systems for overall distribution operations across the United States.
Responsibilities:
- Leading and improving a high performing multi-site large package fulfillment operation that provides our customers with best-in-class service for cost, quality and delivery
- Lead a team of empowered employees focused on creating a great customer experience that supports the New Pig culture of fun and excellence
- Develop and execute New Pig’s distribution strategy; evaluate and adjust strategy and plans as required to sustain high levels of customer satisfaction, cost efficiencies and to help grow New Pig’s market position.
- Effectively use financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure the cost of fulfillment, productivity and KPI’s to determine areas for potential cost reduction and improvement
- Communicate with Senior Management on short and long-term objectives. Provide and distribute regular information (reports, verbal communication, dashboards, etc.) to communicate operational results, trends, and costs. Forecast short- & long-term capacity of current facilities based on project growth. Create recommendations to meet growth objectives.
- Develop a strong culture of Continuous Improvement and employee empowerment using Lean and Six Sigma principles to remove waste and ensure efficient use of assets and resources
- Lead the management of a WMS to manage the receipt, storage and fulfillment of products through a multitude of shipping methods including parcel, LTL, TL and container freight
- Oversee the management and maintenance of all warehouse assets such as forklifts, batteries, chargers, racking and dock areas to ensure a Safety-First culture and peak efficiency
- Work with our international sourcing, procurement and inventory control teams to manage the receipt, flow and storage space requirements to support sales and growth objectives
- Engage with Sales departments to understand and meet customer expectations
- Provide recommendations to New Pig’s subsidiaries to improve their fulfillment operations
- Management of all shipping activities
- Management of 3PL warehouse relationships via KPI’s and financial performance. Based on current demand, recommend new domestic fulfillment locations (3PL, etc.).
- Establish and manage quality systems and metrics to ensure order accuracy, on-time delivery and high levels of customer satisfaction
- Establish and maintain constructive communications and relationships with third parties, such as suppliers, vendors and customers; use effective negotiation skills and resolve conflicts.
- People management and development, including:
- Assisting with recruiting and selection
- Establishing and communicating performance standards and expectations to team members
- Establishing and implementing operational objectives (short-term and long-term) and policies/procedures, in collaboration with respective direct reports
- Monitor performance and provide feedback for continuous improvement
- Promote a Safety-First culture to maintain compliance with all current safety policies, protocols and requirements. Ensure team is trained in the safe operation of automated equipment, vehicles, and in the proper conduct of their duties to reduce accidents, injuries and property damage.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Materials Management, or Supply Chain Management, or equivalent combination of formal education and experience
- 10 years in increasingly responsible management roles in distribution, logistics, and/or supply chain management to include:
- Significant experience with Warehouse Management software and coordination with IT on selection of new software and modifications
- Experience in contract negotiations and managing key relationships to ensure competitive rates and quality service
- Well-developed leadership and people management skills
- Strong skills in the use of operations performance data, and other information resources for management analysis, evaluation, and decision-making, particularly in the areas of forecasting, budgeting and planning
- Sound business judgment, grounded in quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational, time management, and project management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with common business applications, including both spreadsheet and word processing software (i.e., Microsoft Excel, Word, etc.)
- Strong work ethic, characterized by initiative, drive and goal orientation
