Workforce Development Manager

Summary

This position works under the direction of the Executive Director of Next Step, and is tasked with leading the Workforce Development team, setting goals, developing strategies, and overseeing operations to ensure efficiency and align with company objectives. The WFD Manager will also maintain a flow of candidates into the program through a strategy of recruitment, vetting, and collaboration. This role establishes trust relationships with guests through a practice of proximity, empathy, and active listening, and also serves as a program ambassador in our guest gathering spaces. This role is responsible to meet with class facilitators, prepare our presentation spaces, provide presentation needs, and maintain well-designed, robust class and activity schedules. This role gathers and shares actionable feedback for continuous improvement. This position provides participants with case management and maintains current, relevant S.O.A.P. case notes.

Job Plan

  • Lead and oversee the WFD team to ensure work is completed efficiently and aligns with company goals
  • Help to recruit and vet guests to become participants for Momentum
  • Monitor project deadlines and performance.
  • Manage and maintain schedule of speakers and daily activities
  • Follow a pre-determined schedule to provide a presence in MTM at 225 Commerce as well as the Hope Center at 101 Garden, to be a Momentum ambassador in order to generate interest and awareness amongst staff and guests.
  • Input weekly case notes into Resident Tracker utilizing the S.O.A.P method.
  • Provide professional insightful teachings to participants on topics related to obtaining and sustaining an occupation.
  • Provide Case Management while participants are in track.
  • Adhere to professional boundaries with participants, providing input as applicable
  • Study, review and be prepared for the curriculum taught day to day
  • Be highly relational with participants, understanding their strengths and weaknesses in order to help facilitate a path toward employment at the best interest of the participant
  • Greet incoming instructors ensuring their readiness by providing pre=printed copies of material and introducing each speaker to the participants.
  • Be able to debrief with participants after sessions to clarify any areas of question and answer any questions participants may have regarding the topic.
  • Ask appropriate questions and share insight during sessions that are applicable and helpful for the participants pertaining to the topic.
  • Always maintain a posture of welcome and compassion toward our participants.
  • Work alongside other WFD, Tracks, and Housing staff for case management and handoffs when guest meets certain goals.
  • Using the MTM van, drive Momentum participants to/from offsite classes, workplace tours, interviews, and shelter as needed.
  • Input weekly case notes into Resident Tracker and HMIS utilizing the S.O.A.P method.
  • Collaborate with others (Goodwill Achieve, Next Step team, MTM Ministry team, area churches, mental health providers, partner employers, etc.) in providing specialized course content to Momentum guests.
  • Momentum course content covers areas such as: nurturing faith, dealing with trauma, mental & physical health, finances, housing, soft skills, and employment.
  • Additional duties and tasks as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Management or related field is preferred, though not required. Commensurate experience in similar role will be considered.
  • Proficient skill level in Microsoft Office Suite, and other tech platforms
  • Proven leadership and team building
  • Highly productive, organized, highly successful in handling multiple projects
  • Excellent, professional communication style, both verbal and written
  • Strong communicator, relational and collaborative work-style
