Assistant General Manager

ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER (GM-TRACK)

Full-time Salary Position | Standards Jamestown | Jamestown, RI

About Standards Jamestown
Standards Jamestown is a chef-driven, 100% seed-oil-free, scratch-kitchen restaurant known for elevated comfort food, exceptional hospitality, and a rapidly growing brand. As we expand, we are looking for a motivated leader to step into a GM-Track Assistant Manager role—designed to train the right person to become the full General Manager of the restaurant.

Role Overview
This is not a static assistant role. This is a structured pathway for someone who wishes to open their own restaurant one day or learn each role within the operation. High leadership potential to grow into the full GM position. You will work closely with the Executive Chef/Owner and current management to learn all operational, financial, and service aspects of running Standards Jamestown.

The right candidate will gain full autonomy in daily operations and eventually oversee the entire FOH/BOH structure, guest experience, scheduling, labor control, and staff development.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Service Management

Run floor operations and lead service with confidence

Conduct pre-shift meetings and coach FOH team

Maintain Standards-level hospitality and consistency

Manage table touches, guest experiences, and service recovery

Operations Training (GM-Track)

You will be trained in:

Labor cost management and scheduling

Weekly sales, forecasting, and service planning

Vendor communication and basic inventory oversight

POS updates, menu changes, and cash management

Compliance, safety, and procedures

Creating checklists, systems, and staff accountability

Staff Development

Assist in hiring, onboarding, and hands-on training

Build a strong, positive team culture

Hold staff accountable to Standards’ expectations

Help implement a badge/patch skill system (restaurant gamification)

Administrative & Owner Support

Complete administrative tasks to keep the restaurant running cleanly

Manage FOH emails, paperwork, and daily communication

Reduce interruptions to the Chef/Owner by owning operations fully

Run shifts independently and responsibly

What Makes This Role Unique

This position is designed for rapid advancement.

As you progress through training and hit competency benchmarks, you will take on:

Weekly schedule ownership

Labor forecasting and adjustments

Full service management

Independent restaurant leadership during peak hours

Completion of your “GM Readiness Portfolio”

Promotion to General Manager once all training milestones are met

You will be trained to run the restaurant without oversight.

Qualifications

1–3+ years leadership experience in hospitality preferred

Passion for guest experience and team culture

Ability to stay calm, organized, and solutions-oriented

Strong communicator with a coaching mindset

Available nights, weekends, and holidays

Ambition to become a long-term leader in the Standards brand
