Business Development Intern

Growth & Business Development Intern

About SnapMatePhoto

SnapMatePhoto is a photography marketplace that makes it easy and affordable for anyone to book a photographer – from students and couples to small brands and creators.

Instead of paying $300+ for a photoshoot, our users can find local photographers starting around $25/hour, while giving amateur and up-and-coming photographers a way to monetize their skills and build their portfolio.

We’re early, scrappy, and growing. If you like the idea of helping a real startup get its next 100 paying customers, this is for you.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a  Growth & Business Development Intern (Customer Acquisition) whose main mission is:

Turn strangers into SnapMatePhoto bookings.

This is not a “watch and learn” internship. You’ll be:

Talking to real potential customers

Testing different channels to find them

Pushing them to actually book a shoot on our platform

You’ll work directly with the founder and help build the playbook for how SnapMatePhoto gets customers.

What You’ll Do (Day-to-Day)

1. Customer Outreach & Lead Generation

Identify potential customers: students, couples, families, content creators, small businesses, event organizers, etc.

Run DM outreach campaigns on Instagram, TikTok, Threads, and other platforms.

Test simple funnels like:

“See our reel → Click link → Fill form → Book session”

Find Facebook groups / Discords / community pages where people look for photographers and test messages there (without being spammy).

2. Talk to Customers & Close Bookings

Chat with potential customers to understand:

What kind of photos they want

Their budget, date, and location

Recommend photographers on SnapMatePhoto that fit their needs.

Follow up with warm leads and help them complete the booking on our site.

Collect feedback: What made them book? What almost stopped them?

3. Partnerships & Simple BD

Help identify and reach out to:

Student clubs

University organizations (sports, dance teams, clubs, grad photos, etc.)

Local communities / meetups / small businesses

Pitch simple, win–win ideas, like:

“Club photo day”

Mini-sessions for teams / events

Discount codes for their members

Keep a simple pipeline of who you contacted, who replied, and who might become a partner.

4. Growth Experiments & Playbook

Try different ideas: posters, QR codes, referral codes, simple promos, etc.

Track basic numbers:

DMs sent

Replies

Calls / chats

Bookings

Share what’s working and help turn it into a repeatable process we can scale and hand to future teammates.

What Success Looks Like

After 2–3 months, success looks like:

You’ve tested multiple customer acquisition channels and can say:

“This channel works best for ____ type of customer.”

You’ve directly contributed to real bookings on SnapMatePhoto.

We have a basic but clear customer acquisition playbook:

Outreach scripts

Follow-up flows

Partnership templates

Simple metrics dashboard

Who You Are

You might be a great fit if:

You enjoy talking to people – online or in person.

You’re curious about startups, sales, growth, or business development.

You’re self-driven – you don’t wait for step-by-step instructions.

You like testing ideas, not just planning them.

You’re comfortable with “figure it out” energy. Things will be messy.

You’re a student or early-career person looking for real ownership, not just a brand name.

Bonus points if:

You’ve done sales, customer service, campus ambassador work, or club outreach before.

You understand (or want to learn) how to use social media to drive actions, not just likes.

You enjoy photography, content creation, or know people who always need photos.

What You’ll Get

Real ownership: You won’t just “help” – you’ll own a big chunk of customer growth.

Direct mentorship: Work closely with the founder, see how decisions are made.

Resume + story value: You’ll be able to say “I helped a startup get real paying customers,” with numbers to back it up.

Flexible schedule: We care about outcomes, not hours.

Potential to grow into:

Extended internship

Future part-time or early employee role if it’s a strong match

Time Commitment

25+ hours per week (flexible across weekdays and weekends)

Minimum commitment of 3 months preferred

How to Apply

To keep this simple and to find truly self-driven people, please send an email to snapmate@snapmatephoto.com with the subject:

Growth & BD Intern – [Your Name]

Include:

Short intro (3–5 sentences)

Who are you, what are you studying/doing, and why does SnapMatePhoto sound interesting to you?

One thing you started on your own

Tell us about something you started that nobody forced you to do

(a club, small business, side project, social page, event, etc.).

Mini challenge (required, keep it short):

Pick one target group (for example: “ students who need grad photos” or “local small brands that need content photos”).

Draft 2–3 outreach messages you would send them to get them interested in booking through SnapMatePhoto

(this can be DM, email, or text style).

Your availability

How many hours/week you can commit

When you’d like to start and for how long

No formal cover letter needed. Show us how you think and how you would talk to real customers.
