Senior Manager, Community Programs
Position Summary
The Senior Manager, Community Programs is a key member of DASF’s leadership team, responsible for overseeing and expanding community-based animal welfare programs, including spay/neuter, vaccinations, medical assistance, and the emergency pet food program. This role manages the planning, implementation, and impact measurement of each of DASF’s key community programs — ensuring that DASF’s resources are used effectively to serve the greatest number of animals possible. The ideal candidate is an experienced program manager who brings strong organizational skills, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for animal welfare and community service.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Management
- Oversee day-to-day operations of DASF’s community programs, including spay/neuter, vaccination, medical assistance, and the emergency pet food pantry.
- Partner with leadership to develop annual program goals, budgets, and performance metrics aligned with DASF’s strategic priorities.
- Manage clinic and vendor relationships to ensure successful and efficient service delivery.
- Collect and analyze program data to evaluate impact, identify areas for improvement, and report progress to leadership and the board.
- Ensure programs comply with grant requirements, donor expectations, and financial accountability standards.
Pet Food Pantry & Community Drives
- Lead the planning, coordination, and growth of DASF’s Emergency Pet Food Pantry Program to help local families keep pets in their homes.
- Develop community partnerships with local businesses, schools, civic groups, and individuals to organize ongoing pet food donation drives.
- Manage inventory levels, distribution logistics, and record-keeping to ensure consistent and equitable access to pantry resources.
- Build awareness of the program through collaboration with the marketing team and engagement in community outreach events.
Community & Partner Engagement
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with the City of Denton Animal Shelter, veterinary partners, and community organizations.
- Represent DASF in community meetings, events, and coalitions to strengthen collaboration and build relationships across animal welfare organizations.
- Identify and cultivate new community relationships that expand program reach and resources.
Team & Volunteer Coordination
- Work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to support volunteer engagement and activity on DASF’s community initiatives.
- Collaborate with the marketing and Volunteer Coordinator to promote programs, recruit volunteers, and increase community participation.
Reporting & Grants Management
- Track program metrics and outcomes for donor and grant reporting.
- Support DASF development by providing data and success stories for grant proposals and impact reports.
- Assist in identifying new funding opportunities that support program sustainability and growth.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, public administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 5-7 years of progressively responsible program management experience, preferably in animal welfare, human services, or nonprofit community programs.
- Demonstrated success managing multiple projects, budgets, and relationships.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to build trust and collaboration across diverse community groups.
- Experience with partnership development and community outreach.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
- Deep compassion for animals and a commitment to DASF’s mission.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience in animal welfare, nonprofit management, or pet retention programs.
- Grant writing and data reporting experience.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
