Computer Technician Assistant

Reports to: Assigned administrator/supervisor.
Job Objective: Maintains technology equipment and provides staff/student support.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Previous experience in a computer-related field is preferred. Strong technical skills and an understanding of technology
applications in an academic environment substantiated by training/work experience, including, but not limited to:
o A+ certification or working toward receiving this certification
o PC support and basic networking knowledge
o Working proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and/or Google Docs and Sheets
• Ability to clearly communicate technical information and work with a wide range of staff interest/skill levels.
• Available to work irregular hours/non-traditional schedule as an "on-call" employee when required.
• Displays flexibility, reliability, self-discipline and a willingness to take on challenging tasks.
• Embodies high ethical standards/integrity. Maintains confidentiality. Accepts personal responsibility for decisions/conduct.
• Exhibits effective time management and resourceful problem-solving skills.
• Passes all state background check requirements. Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public
school employment.
• Meets mandated health screening requirements following a conditional offer of employment.
Essential Functions:
1. Provides technical/manual skills in the installation, configuration, maintenance, and repair of technology resources (i.e.,
hardware, software, etc.).
• Assist in setting up IT equipment, performing or ensuring proper installation of PCs, cables, operating systems, and
associated software.
• Assist in installing, moving or adjusting any device on the network
• Assist in providing direct technical assistance to computer users (staff/students), answering questions or resolving
computer problems for clients in person, over the phone, or digitally.
• Assist in observing system/Chromebook functioning to verify correct operations and detect errors.
• Assist in recommending the purchase of efficient and cost-effective technological equipment and software.
• Assisted in developing any missing documentation on systems and network functionality.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Picks-up/delivers equipment, materials and other supplies as directed.
• Helps with the receipt of deliveries. Inspects packages. Verifies contents with packing lists.
• Inspects, tests, and installs new equipment/software. Prepares support documentation (e.g., date installed, location, upgrades,
etc.). Monitors licensing agreement compliance.
• Protects district property. Ensures storage areas are secured at the end of the workday.

Working Conditions: Safety is essential to job performance. Employees must exercise caution and comply with all mandated safety

• Exposure to air-borne particulates, chemicals, combustible materials, electrical hazards, equipment vibrations, noise, moving
mechanical parts, odors and slippery surfaces.

• Lifting, carrying and moving work-related supplies/equipment.
• Operating and/or riding in a vehicle.
