2026 Summer Intern, Data Scientist
We’re currently hiring a Data Scientist Intern to join our team remotely in Summer 2026.
This is an entry-level, 10-week, full-time internship expected to begin in June and end in August. Work may be done remotely from any U.S. location. Pay is expected to be $23 per hour for undergraduate level interns and $28 per hour for graduate level interns. At this time, we are unable to provide housing nor relocation assistance for this position.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Data Scientist intern to join our team supporting energy efficiency and load management programs for utilities. This role will focus on maintaining and enhancing predictive analytics models.
The ideal candidate will apply advanced statistical and computational methodologies and integrate these analyses into supporting IT systems to help achieve business objectives. Responsibilities include analyzing large datasets—spanning customer behavior, energy usage, and marketing performance to identify appropriate statistical techniques, develop and execute code, validate outputs, and produce technical reports.
Basic Qualifications:
- By start date, a minimum of 30 completed college-level credit hours is required in Math, Engineering, Science, IT or related discipline
- Must be able to pass any required background check(s), which may include drug screening
- All work must be performed in the U.S. per contract requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- A completed bachelor’s degree plus enrollment verification in a Master’s degree program within data science or similar discipline
- Proficiency in R and/or Python or statistical modeling, data manipulation, and visualization
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git and TortoiseSVN, including branching strategies, pull requests, and repository management
- Working knowledge of SQL for querying relational databases
- Strong understanding of predictive modeling techniques and machine learning algorithms
- Familiarity with Docker for building and deploying containerized machine learning environments and applications
- Experience with Microsoft Azure services (e.g. Azure Databricks, Azure Batch, Azure Blob/Table Storage)
- Familiarity with energy efficiency, utilities, or environmental analytics a plus
- Experience working with large-scale datasets and building scalable data solutions
