Position Summary
This position is responsible for maintaining an authentic Montessori environment that supports the core Montessori principles and aligns with the school’s mission and vision. The Early Childhood/Primary Teacher serves as a role model in caring for the whole person and educating children in mind, body, and spirit. The position entails working with a dedicated team characterized by friendliness, warmth, and exceptional professionalism. The full-day teaching position operates Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, while the part-day position is from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. Pearlily Montessori adheres to the Dublin City Schools calendar from August to May. The Summer Camp Program is separate from the academic year and typically spans six weeks.
Pearlily Montessori is an independent authentic Montessori school with a Catholic philosophy of education, located in Dublin, Ohio, serving children ages 2 1/2 to 6 years. The institution prepares children for life through early character formation and the Montessori approach. Education & Experience
Education:
- AMS or AMI 3-6, or a MACTE Credential/Diploma or currently in training.
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
Experience:
- At least two years of working experience in an early childhood setting is required.
- Experience in a Montessori school is ideal.
Certifications & Competencies:
- Must meet state licensing requirements (e.g., CPR/First Aid, background check, mandated DCY trainings).
- Capacity to follow detailed instructions, maintain a high standard of cleanliness and order, and engage with young children in a grounded and compassionate manner.
- Dedication to the Montessori philosophy and the education of young children.
- Ability to create an environment that helps students meet their full potential and encourages a love of learning.
- Possession of strength of character with moral authority, serving as a role model and a person for others.
- Strong observation skills to guide students to activities that meet their interests, needs, and developmental levels.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices.
- Openness to feedback, coaching, and collaborative growth.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to move easily between standing, sitting on the floor, kneeling, bending, and lifting.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds (e.g., child, classroom materials, laundry).
- Regular exposure to outdoor weather during recess and nature walks.
- Potential exposure to cleaning agents and child-generated messes.
Work Environment:
The Early Childhood/Primary Teacher operates within a carefully prepared environment that emphasizes early character formation. This peaceful, child-centered environment fosters independence, concentration, responsibility, and order. The role is physically active, requiring stamina and agility. The teacher engages in significant movement, including standing, sitting on the floor, bending, and lifting up to 40 pounds. Continuous interaction with children is essential to ensure their daily needs are met with kindness, patience, and love. Maintaining an organized and clean classroom is crucial, as is creating a beautiful space. Daily nature walks to the park are part of the routine, and work will occur both indoors and outdoors throughout all seasons, accommodating various weather conditions and typical classroom messes. Collaboration with team members is vital, fostering kindness, compassion, and genuine care for the Pearlily community, alongside ongoing communication and professionalism. This is a full-time, on-site position with no remote work option.
