INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION:

Legal Outreach is seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic interns to perform educational and administrative duties during our five-week Summer Law Institutes held at Brooklyn Law School, Columbia Law School, NYU School of Law, Fordham School of Law, Benjamin N. Cardozo Law School, St. John’s University School of Law, and CUNY School of Law. Interns provide crucial support to the program, ensuring the students’ success. Ideal candidates are those interested in inspiring youth through enriching educational experiences; while advancing their own knowledge of the legal field. Interns also enjoy exclusive access to networking opportunities with attorneys, judges, and other legal professionals.

              RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in an experiential classroom training program (June 1 – June 26).
  • Assist Legal Teaching Fellows during the five-week Institute (June 29– July 31).
  • Collaborate with Legal Teaching Fellows in wrap up week responsibilities (August 3 - August 7).
  • Interns will teach lessons on plagiarism, note taking, study skills, public speaking, and essay writing; grade student work; assist students participating in mock-trial competitions; and chaperone students on field trips to law firms, courts, and law-related agencies.
  • Recruit lawyers to serve as SLI guest speakers and/or field trip hosts.
  • Organize a student orientation, maintain student databases, prepare curricular materials, research and compile legal articles, and perform administrative tasks as needed.
    QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong interest in providing young people with enriching educational experiences that prepare them for high school, college, and beyond.
  • Superior organizational skills, communication skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
