Engineering Intern - New User Experience

Please note: This is a hybrid position, with an in-office requirement of 2-3 days per week in our Washington DC office.

ABOUT THE TEAM 🤝

The New User Experience (NUX) team is dedicated to:

  • Improving the experience for new Rocket Money user, owning critical experiences including the onboarding and dashboard experiences
  • Guiding new users to valuable tools that help form financial habits
  • Increasing user engagement and retention, particularly in their first weeks to reduce churn
  • Providing a cohesive end-to-end user journey from acquisition to engagement and retention
  • Leveraging analytics and data-driven decision making across the entire user lifecycle
  • Implementing user engagement strategies that span from initial onboarding & signup through long-term retention

IN THIS ROLE, YOU'LL:

  • Gain exposure to the process of building production-ready software in a professional environment.
  • Participate in regular development sprints with your team.
  • Build & deploy real features or bug fixes.
  • Familiarize yourself with the rhythms of a career in software engineering.

ABOUT YOU 🦄

  • You're currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • You have basic knowledge of programming fundamentals, and are eager to apply them in a real-world setting
  • Experience with our stack (TypeScript, React Native, PostgreSQL) is a plus
  • You are curious and know your why by asking thoughtful questions about engineering decisions
  • You take pride in doing a great job continuously improving and learning
  • You deliver on commitments and aren't afraid to ask for help when needed
  • You're open to feedback and actively challenge yourself to improve your technical skills
