Education Program Coordinator

Humanities Texas, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, seeks to hire a full-time (37.5 hours) education program coordinator.

This position will support our online and in-person professional development programs for secondary-level teachers, the development of our curriculum projects and substantive online resources for classroom instruction, and the administration of our Outstanding Teaching Awards program recognizing exemplary classroom teachers.

This full-time position features an excellent benefits package, including health, dental, life, and disability insurance and a 403(b) retirement plan. 

Humanities Texas’s workday is 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The education program coordinator will work onsite at our Austin office, though we do offer some remote work flexibility. In-state travel, including overnight and occasional weekend work, is required. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The education program officer will support Humanities Texas education programs, with increasing responsibility determined by performance. The program officer will report to the co-directors of education but work closely with other staff. This position requires independent and team-based work, effective collaboration and communication, and interaction with a broad spectrum of people. Duties include:

  • Planning and administration of teacher institutes, workshops, and webinars
  • Providing logistics support for online and in-person education events 
  • Tracking and managing data, materials, and video recordings associated with teacher professional development programs
  • Supporting ongoing development of Humanities Texas curriculum resources 
  • Supporting outreach efforts and promotion of Humanities Texas education programs to teachers, administrators, and constituents statewide
  • Supporting administration of our Outstanding Teaching Awards program
  • Maintaining relationships with scholars, presenters, and program partners

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a humanities or education discipline 
  • Experience organizing education, nonprofit, or community-based programs or events 
  • Ability to work collegially as part of a team 
  • Ability to establish service-oriented, helpful relationships with Humanities Texas partners and constituents
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, maintain deadlines, and produce high-quality work
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Exceptional verbal, written communication, and public speaking skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs 

 

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE 

  • Familiarity with the state of Texas.
  • Experience with FileMaker Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, web publishing, and/or video editing software

 

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Annual salary of $48–52K commensurate with experience with review after six months.
