Summer 2026 Human Resources Intern
As the Human Resources you will play a key role in supporting the HR Operations team in delivering meaningful HR support to AoPS employees and leadership across our nationwide organization. This role offers hands-on experience in core HR functions, including employee lifecycle management, HRIS administration, compliance, and process improvement initiatives. You will gain exposure to various aspects of People Operations while contributing to projects that help grow and strengthen the organization.
The Human Resources Intern will:
- Assist with employee lifecycle processes including onboarding and offboarding activities, new hire orientation coordination, and employee transitions.
- Support HRIS data entry and maintenance, including processing routine employment changes and ensuring data accuracy
- Help respond to employee phone and email inquiries regarding HR policies, benefits, and general HR operations topics under the guidance of HR team members
- Participate in the development and documentation of HR policies, standard operating procedures, and compliance-related materials
- Assist with benefits administration tasks, including open enrollment support, benefits communications, and the creation of employee education materials
- Support the creation of reports and data analytics related to headcount, turnover, and other HR metrics using Excel, Google Sheets, and HRIS platforms
- Conduct regular audits of employee records and HRIS data to identify and flag inconsistencies or areas for improvement
- Contribute to special HR projects such as HRIS implementation, training program development, employee engagement initiatives, and process improvement efforts
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations
- Collaborate with partner departments to ensure efficiency in daily operations
The ideal candidate has:
- An undergraduate degree in progress in in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field, or recently graduated
- Strong interest in pursuing a career in Human Resources
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office & Google Suite, particularly Excel/Sheets (formulas and data management)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment

This is a 40-hour per week paid internship with a pay rate of $30/hour. The internship will take place in summer 2026 and will be based at our headquarters in San Diego, CA.
