Videographer Intern

Pay: Commensurate with Experience

Summary: 

Chameleon Technology Partners (CTPi) is a small business operating in Fairfax county, providing Engineering, Technical Writing, and training tools to the Federal Marketplace.

Main objectives:

The candidate works in concert with a small production team to develop an enterprise training service.  This includes working with cameras, video editing toolsets, lighting, and sound to create video content that is appealing entertainment quality content. 

While not a requirement to provide all these overall skills, candidates must bring an eagerness to learn skills and grow--developing over time a combination of creativity, and image/video development skills. We are looking for candidates willing to learn, develop their video/image capture skills, standards and broaden their image production experiences. Videographers may be responsible for transporting or setting up this equipment, shooting, hauling it away, and then creating the film segment or clip. 

Emerging videographers require the following personality characteristics:

  • Flexibility and good listening skills.
  • Technical acumen to be able to operate, configure, intimate set setup, and fix multiple, audio, lighting, teleprompter, or other production equipment.
  • Willingness to learn or acquire post-production techniques.  Experience in editing is a plus.
  • Can work in a variety of digital venues with software to edit and finish film work.

Some typical video production responsibilities include:

  • Working collaboratively with a creative team and producer to create video short segments and/or video products with imperfect scripts.  Be able to flex to the needs of the producer and interviewees.
  • Cleaning and disassembling hardware.
  • Setting up and tearing down cameras, audio recorders, lighting, microphones, and props.
  • Calibrating and maintaining equipment.
  • Able to integrate visual/audio tracks into single footage
  • Preparing background film or “B” rolls as well as dual camera feed integration.
  • Troubleshoots problems with the equipment.
  • Interviewing people and creating a film clip via editing raw footage.
  • Inserting closed captioning, graphics, or other on-screen text into a video.
  • Adding computer graphics and special effects to a video.

Recommended Skills or Objectives:

  • Working toward a communications or Arts degree 
  • Background in with Adobe Premiere/Creative or Camtasia editing tools.
  • Creativity and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure.
  • Organization to manage their time efficiently.
  • Self-starter and quick learner.
  • Ability to effectively interface with technical and nontechnical staff at all organizational levels.
  • Positive attitude, flexible, and good work habits—great place to develop skills.
  • Must possess at least 2 courses in either still image or videography capture or equivalent personal experiences.

On the job Training/mentoring available, as well as programming self-training encouraged. Work from our COVID socially distant and safe office in Oakton or from home with approval.
