Company: Sunburst Agri Biotech Solutions LLC (previously Sunburst Plant Disease Clinic Inc.) is an agribusiness company located in the Central Valley of California. Plant disease clinic is one of its divisions dedicated to servicing the farmers, cooperative agri farms, seed health testing and disease clinics for grapevine yards. 

Location: This position will be based in Turlock, CA .

Training:

The ideal candidate will be taught the principles of plant pathology and pathogen identification using conventional and molecular analysis. Wet lab expertise with molecular methods like DNA isolation, plasmid manipulation, PCR (RT PCR, real time PCR), DNA sequencing and other related good lab practices (GLP) that are essential for getting a job in a good laboratory. 

The candidate will be taught to create and maintain a clear record of experiments and protocols. 

Shadowing with the lead scientist, the candidate will be taught to create experimental protocols for new projects and create a list of new services to offer to the farmers.

The candidate will be exposed to customer experience, especially from the Ag farms and nurseries. needed.

Qualifications and Skills

• Undergraduate enrolled in a 2-year community college or 4-year undergraduate program.
• Passion to learn and excel in Wet lab techniques: Plate culture-based plant pathogen detection. Sample processing for DNA extraction.  problem solving skills, ability to think critically and make data-driven decisions.
• Excellent written and oral communication and ability to manage working in a team.
• Desire and ability to excel in a multidisciplinary environment; open minded and capable of receiving feedback.
• Commitment of 15 to 20 hours per week. We need a stretch of 5hrs per day. The hourly rate will be state minimum. The training experience will be a plus for other job opportunities or employment with us in the future.
