Recruitment and Student Success Coordinator
Job Summary:
The Department of Food Science and Technology is advancing multi-disciplinary approaches for safe, sustainable and healthy foods through innovative research, teaching and outreach. The Food Innovation Center is located on Nebraska Innovation Campus in Lincoln, NE.
As a Recruitment and Student Success Coordinator, you will:
- Lead undergraduate student recruitment activities for the Department of Food Science and Technology (FDST). The position will involve high school recruitment visits, providing college and career information to prospective students and families, assisting with campus visits, organizing recruiting events and activities, and representing the department at on- and off-campus events.
- Work closely with FDST faculty and staff to implement strategic recruiting and marketing initiatives that engage faculty, staff, and students in the department to achieve smart enrollment growth and promote retention of students in FDST.
- Engage with alumni, Extension, K-12 agricultural and STEM educators, and other organizations to increase awareness and understanding of FDST academic programs and career opportunities.
- Interface with recruiting staff in UNL Admissions and the UNL College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.
Some travel and evening/weekend work required. Within the UNL system, this position is categorized as a Student Service Coordinator.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in food science, nutrition, agriculture, natural resources, STEM field, communication, marketing, education, or a closely related field; plus
- Two years of experience in public relations, student services, academic services, marketing, or a related field. Additional years of completed relevant education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to engage small and large audiences and work in diverse teams.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and organization skills.
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
The following qualifications are preferred but not required:
- Experience with college recruitment activities.
- Experience in the food industry.
- Experience with event planning.
- Experience with brand management using social media platforms.
- Knowledge of STEM fields.
- Knowledge of UNL.
Posted Salary: $43,000/year minimum
