Technical Writer III (1105)

AI Signal Research, Inc. (ASRI) is recruiting for the Test Engineering & Analysis Services contract in the Las Cruces and White Sands Missile Range, NM area.

 

Education: Bachelors degree in a related field

 

Months/Years of Experience: Three (3) to six (6) years experience

 

Required Qualifications: U.S. Citizen.  Must possess or be able to be obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance. Must possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License.

 

Desired Qualifications: Prior leadership or supervisory experience, specific experience with Security Verification Tools such as JPAS/DISS via WSMRNET.  Experience with Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS).  Extensive experience managing, troubleshooting or operating specific proprietary IDS used by the facility.  Familiarity with TRMS Mission Scheduling.  Direct experience in 24/7/365 classified operations (especially in a military or government facility).  Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products for maintaining the daily log of security checks/inspections of classified areas and the daily Visitor Log.

 

 

Skills Needed: Meticulous attention to detail and ability to work within deadlines to exacting standards, Experience using style guides, templates, formatting professional documents, adhering to DoD standards and regulations, and technical editing processes, Experience coordinating and collaborating with engineers, scientists, SMEs, etc., to develop technical documents, Proficiency with MS Office Suite, MS Teams, Adobe Acrobat, and SharePoint. Knowledge of applicable style guides and Army Regulations and use of the customer specific JAT guidelines. Must be able to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, to ensure information is presented with clarity and correct grammar—without altering meaning or intent, Ability to perform real-time technical editing and use templates, Author, review, and format documents to include formatting tables, figures, and paragraphs in accordance with set styles and standards, Compile analysis results into test reports and/or briefing presentations, support and assist other technical writing tasks as needed, Work autonomously and/or in a group setting to provide reports, services, and products directly to the customer, Exercise discretion and independent judgment to accomplish goals set forth by mission objectives, policies, and training procedures.

 

Duties:

Primary Function:

Under general supervision, the Technical Writer-Editor will provide leadership and management responsibilities, mentorship and guidance to team members, ensure the team is properly trained to perform tasks.   writes, edits, creates templates, and coordinates the development of technical reports, memorandums, presentations, brochures, test procedures, standard operating procedures, technical manuals, etc., for internal documentation, customer reference, or publication. The Technical Writer-Editor gathers and translates technical information into concise language and mission specific language and format while maintaining meaning and increasing usability. This person researches and analyzes documents so that they adhere to appropriate style, regulations, format, classification markings, and applicable literature. The Technical Writer-Editor works with writers, analysts, and researchers to improve the general quality and effectiveness of communications, verifies copy with appropriate departments, and will coordinate production and distribution of materials. They will collaborate with engineers, scientists, SMEs, etc. to develop technical documents for testing of cutting edge weapons systems. The Technical Writer-Editor directs and maintains the production list of work in progress, in coordination with the customer’s requests and requirements.

 

Essential Functions:

Revises, edits, and/or writes material for test reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, test plans, and related technical and administrative publications concerned with work methods and procedures, and the installation, operation, and maintenance of machinery and other equipment, Receives assignments and technical information from a supervisor then takes directions from the customer in coordination with the supervisor (i.e., notes or manuals containing operating procedures and details, and may observe production, developmental or experimental activities to expand or verify the provided operating procedures and details), In coordination with the supervisor, assigns and tracks work in progress for the editorial team, Researches catalogs, drawings, and other data relative to operation, maintenance, and servicing equipment, Integrates charts, sketches, drawings, lists, specifications, mockups, and photographs to delineate technology, operating procedures, and production sequence and detail, Organizes material and complete writing assignments in accordance with set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology, Maintains records and versions and revisions of documents, Incorporates photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate processes, Organizes information for publication layouts, Drafts test plans, test reports, and supplemental information as requested.

Comments: Compliance with health mandates as dictated by the contract may be required as a condition of employment. Work schedule is subject to change based on customer’s work requirements and may include overtime and TDY travel to include possible overseas missions. This position is contingent upon funding.
