Job Coach (Program Trainer) - San Bernardino
OVERVIEW
This is an entry-level position. We are seeking a dedicated Trainer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about empowering individuals through skill development and training. This role involves designing and delivering person-centered training programs that enhance the capabilities of participants, particularly in areas related to pre-vocational skills. The Trainer will work closely with diverse groups, including individuals with developmental disabilities and autism, to foster an inclusive environment.
SUMMARY: The Program Trainer provides professionalism, case management, systematic instruction, training and support services to people with disabilities in natural environments, community volunteer and paid work sites (when available).
PROGRAM TRAINER QUALIFICATIONS: The Program Trainer will implement program curriculum, deliver individual and group learning experiences to assist clients in obtaining his/her ISP objectives, maintaining data, assessment, planning and evaluation process. ASCEND will not assign other functions during hours when direct service is provided. Per Title 17 Section 56724.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION and/or EXPERIENCE: The Program Trainer is required to have, at a minimum, a high school diploma or general education diploma (GED) required, either a bachelor's degree in related human services field preferred or 2 years of direct support instructional experience with adults with developmental disabilities, preferably, in an inclusive, integrated setting or 2 years of work experience in human relations field. Must have an interest in working with adults with developmentally disabilities.
Duties
- Assists clients in the development of appropriate social skills necessary to reach their person-centered goals.
- Complete and update all daily, weekly, and monthly reports, logs, case notes, administrative paperwork in an accurate, timely and professional manner.
- Transport clients in personal and/or company vehicle for community outings.
- Ensures clients' health, safety, and welfare, enhances the quality of clients' lives, and supports community inclusion in natural environments.
- Document clients' progress and barriers in case notes
- Mentor, coach, and emphasize behavioral management to clients.
- Assists clients with achieving goals of Individual Program Plans (IPP) and Individual Service Plans (ISP).
- ADA and other legislation related to persons with disabilities
- Belief that individuals with disabilities have a right and responsibility to live and work in their community.
- Develop skill-based, structured, inclusive activities for clients.
- Communication and team building, interpersonal and customer relation skills
- Demonstrating effective time management skills

Skills
- Computer skills - Must have computer knowledge, preferably Microsoft Office 365 to include Outlook and Microsoft Word. Case Magic, Photoshop, Adobe Premiere a plus.
- Analytical - Must be able to collect and research data, apply sound analytical thinking using relevant information, design workflow procedures and any necessary adjustments for maximum efficiency.
- Language skills - Must be able to read, analyze and have the ability to write reports and business correspondence. Effectively present information and respond to questions from management, supervisors, staff/trainers, clients and the public.
- Reasoning ability - Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
