Legal Intern

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are a boutique international tax and legal firm looking for a tenacious, perceptive Legal Intern to assist the Firm Partner with legal research, document preparation, and client matters in a diverse portfolio of cases, preferably in the areas of business formation and governance up to, and including dissolution, contracts, tax controversy, estates and trusts, and potentially growing in the area of mergers and acquisitions. A growth mindset is essential for this position.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Conduct legal research on corporate law, estate planning, and trust administration matters
  2. Draft and review basic legal documents including trust agreements, wills, corporate formation documents, and correspondence
  3. Assist with case management and file organization
  4. Prepare memoranda summarizing research findings and legal issues
  5. Support Firm Partner in due diligence reviews for corporate transactions, corporate formations, mergers and acquisitions
  6. Assist with estate planning and consult with Partner and Clients to ensure plan details meet the objective of the outlined plan and is handled with professionalism, effective communication and follow up as required
  7. Maintain confidentiality of all client and firm information
  8. Perform administrative tasks related to legal matters as assigned
  9. Participate in professional development opportunities, including training sessions mutually agreed upon with Firm Partner and collaborate with accounting and tax colleagues to gain valuable experience and insight into the integrated world of tax, accounting and legal
  10. Track time spent on each assignment, as well as the ability to work within an established, projected time estimate

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Current enrollment in an ABA-accredited law school, second- or third-year law student
  2. Strong academic record with coursework in trusts, estates, property law, and/or business organizations preferred
  3. Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
  4. Proficiency with LexisNexis or similar legal research platforms
  5. Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
  6. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  8. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  9. Interest in corporate law, estate planning, and trust administration

TERM AND COMPENSATION

This internship is a one-year position beginning November 15, 2025 and can be extended upon mutual agreement. Compensation is dependent on experience. The intern may work up to 40 hours during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, on-site.
