Camp Bob Waldorf (CBW) enriches the lives of youth throughout the Greater Los Angeles area with the tools and support system they need to thrive from elementary school to college and beyond. Through our residential summer camp programs, weekend retreats, outdoor backpacking trips, college scholarship programs and mentoring program, we provide for over 1,500 underserved children each year – regardless of their family’s financial ability – a safe, nurturing environment where they learn to be creative, responsible, and thoughtful individuals.
Our non-profit camp is owned and operated by Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles (JBBBSLA)and sprawls over 112 acres in the beautiful Verdugo Hills in Glendale, California. We are accredited by the American Camp Association, which approves camps’ standards of operation, particularly those related to program quality and the health and safety of campers and staff.

Job Overview and Specific Responsibilities:
The Office Manager is responsible for keeping the camp office organized and running smoothly. Office Managers answer all incoming phone calls and serve as the first point of contact for parents who are calling camp about their children. They are responsible for mail management, maintaining files and camp paperwork, and reconciling camper, cabin, and bunk logs in CampMinder. Office Managers work directly with the Camp Director and administrative staff as well as with all camp community members, including staff from JBBSLA at large.
The Office Manager will report to the VP of Camp and Retreat Operations.
Office Manager Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain office services by organizing office operations and procedures, sorting mail and correspondence, designing filing systems, and printing / uploading camper mail.
- Answer the phone in a professional manner and provide information to parents, camp staff, and other callers as needed.
- Responsible for reconciling camper, cabin, and bunk lists in the online database each session.
- Relay important information to the Camp Director and other appropriate administrative staff.
- Manage the call-back system between administrative staff and parents.
- Prepare drop off and pick up paperwork.
- Support with the program team to ensure completion of orders, requisition of supplies, and any other required paperwork/forms.
- Support the Administrative team with special projects.
- Maintain yearly records including, but not limited to, orientation schedules and workshop designs, staff lists, and camper reports.
- Keep the camp office organized and running smoothly.
- Address stressful situations appropriately in a fast-paced, interactive environment.
- Understand that campers come first, and decisions should be made in the best interest of campers.
- Assume responsibility for the safety and well-being of campers.
- Be an active member of the camp community by participating in all camp programming, including camp-wide events, hikes, swimming, ropes courses, activities, and village meetings.
- Strive to work cooperatively with fellow staff to achieve the goals of the program.
- Explain and enforce the policies, traditions, and rules of the camp.
- Invest time with campers to meet their needs, challenge their capabilities, and serve as a role model during their time at camp.
- Understand that the position involves living with peers in leadership housing with little to no privacy and eating all meals in a large, noisy dining room.
- Assume responsibility for using and caring for camp equipment and facilities.
- Be familiar with emergency procedures and follow them when necessary.
- Additional responsibilities as needed and assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old by the start of camp.
- At least one year of college or equivalent is preferred.
- Must have prior experience working in an office with strong phone skills.
- Bilingual language skills are a plus.
- Have an interest in working with children.
- A driver’s license is highly preferred.
- Interested in working and living in the outdoors for the summer.
- Emotionally mature with a willingness to work as a team player.
- Flexible and willing to accept challenges and step outside your comfort zone.
- Able to maintain a positive attitude.
- Available for the entire duration of the summer program.
Employment Period: June 1, 2026 – August 7, 2026
Compensation: Day Rate commensurate with experience
