Madison School & Community Recreation (MSCR) is Madison’s public recreation provider. MSCR offers a wide variety of athletic, recreational, arts and enrichment activities and classes for all ages in an accessible, inclusive setting. Programs include swimming instruction, MSCR on the Move, arts & enrichment classes, youth summer camps, sports camps & clinics, adult & 50+ fitness, adult sport leagues including pickleball, softball and tennis, and a wide variety of outdoor pursuits including paddling sports, pontoon trips, camping, orienteering and challenge courses.
As a department of the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD), MSCR also provides afterschool enrichment activities, clubs and sports as well as summer programming in Madison elementary, middle and high schools, Allied Learning Center and Meadowood Neighborhood Center. Afterschool clubs and sports include: arts & enrichment, homework/academic clubs, drama, dance, skiing, soccer, basketball, volleyball, cross country and much more!

Job Description & Duties:
The Inclusion Services Coordinator plays a key role in collaborating with our Inclusion Services team. The Coordinator works mainly in an administrative role to manage the preparation of support plans and materials for youth and adult participants in MSCR programs across the city. They bring strong organizational skills and a detail-oriented view to ensure accurate documentation and regular communication with Inclusion Services Specialists. The Coordinator uses knowledge of inclusive strategies and recreation programming to assist in updating training materials, compiling data, and creating visual supports and other tools.
General oversight:
• Uses a high level of organization and discretion to coordinate completion of participant inclusion support plans for various programs. Delegates to appropriate parties as needed.
• Reads and interprets IEPs, participant profiles, and other special education documents, translating details into the context of recreation programming.
• Communicates effectively with Inclusion Services Specialists, Field Supervisors, and interns regarding site preparation, program plans, changes, and expectations.
• Utilizes creative problem-solving skills in researching, developing, and adapting visual support tools and other strategies and materials.
• Works independently within G-Suite (Google Drive, Sheets, Docs, etc.) to assemble, organize, and monitor documentation.
• Inventories and maintains Inclusion Services supplies for sites at MSCR Central and MMSD Pflaum.
• Other duties as specified by the supervisor.
Under guidance of MSCR Inclusion Services Specialists:
• Contributes to regular Inclusion Services team meetings, providing updates on progress monitoring of site preparation.
• Updates and maintains the Inclusion Services Professional Development website and other training material.
• Compiles staff feedback data on Inclusion Services practices, policies and PD website to create reports for Inclusion Services Specialists and further the department’s strategic plan.
• Travels to programs as needed to support participants and staff with effective inclusive strategies.
Start Date: Ongoing position, estimated start date November 17, 2025
Work Location: Primary work location is MSCR Central (328 E. Lakeside St.) with occasional travel to program site locations across Madison as needed.
Hours/week: Flexible part-time hours vary by season. Typically up to 18.5 hrs/week
Work hours: Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am-5:30pm, with the potential of increasing up to 40 hrs/week during “high months” (Spring/Summer). Some occasional weeknight hours may be required.
Payrate: $21 - $27 /hour
Minimum Qualifications:
• 1-2 years experience working directly with participants with disabilities in an inclusive setting.
• Demonstration of strong organizational skills to manage documents, folders, and projects in various stages of completion using G Suite applications (Drive, Sites, Docs, Spreadsheets, etc.).
• Strong collaboration and problem solving within a team environment to build trusting relationships with coworkers and collectively manage many moving pieces.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of participant and staff information per FERPA.
• Experience working with racially, linguistically, and economically diverse communities, students, and staff.
• Willingness to travel to program site locations in various areas in and around the city of Madison, reliable transportation required.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in a related field (special education, rehab psych, social work, etc.)
•Experience working in school, camp, or other group childcare environments.
•Ability to read and interpret IEPs, other special education documents, participant profiles, staff feedback forms and support plans and translate into the context of recreation programming.
•Experience delegating tasks to applicable staff and monitoring project statuses.
•Understanding of reasonable accommodations and support strategies through the Americans with Disabilities Act.
•Self-motivation to work on projects and assigned tasks within assigned timeline.
