The Franklin County Auditor’s Office is seeking a Director of Communications to join the Communications team.

The Franklin County Auditor’s Office is dedicated to serving the community by ensuring fairness and accuracy in weight and measures across the county. Our mission is to protect and empower consumers, making sure they receive what they rightfully pay for at gas pumps and retail store scanners. What will you do?
Works with staff members within the Franklin County Auditor’s Office to develop a media presence throughout Franklin County that generates story placement; creates, launches and implements a comprehensive, targeted, media plan that supports the Franklin County Auditor’s Office mission; generates and expands the recognition of the Franklin County Auditor’s Office through earned media and community awareness throughout the year; approves outgoing communication; cultivates and maintains positive relationships with reporters and producers of local news networks (e.g., ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, etc.) and multiple newspapers and magazines.
Develops engaging graphic design and digital content for the office; drives online engagement of constituents and stakeholders, and builds and maintains online engagement tools for the office; leads the development of content and content planning of digital assets including website, social media, and other properties; offer regular analysis of effectiveness of tools, develop metrics for success and best practices; research and evaluate various technologies as needed to develop the most effective use of technology for communications and outreach purposes.
Creates, writes, and maintains social media presence that engages homeowners, citizens, key stakeholders, and potential stakeholders; creates and maintains a presence on relevant websites and blogs. Reviews content and prepares letters dispersed to Franklin County residents; manages communications calendar; creates uniform communication style for the Auditor’s Office.
Manages and supervises assigned area (e.g., schedules and assigns tasks; interviews job applicants; recommends the hiring of job applicants; recommends discipline; evaluates performance; receives employee complaints; approves and recommends the approval of leave requests; etc.); addresses staff needs for training, schedules, and development.
Who should apply?
We encourage individuals with possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in communications, public relations, or related discipline; five (5) or more years of related experience and/or training; or any combination of training, education, or experience which provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position. Prior government experience preferred but not required.
Must possess and maintain valid Ohio driver's license and have an acceptable driving record; must comply with the FCAO Driving Policy.
