2026 Lobby Day Internship
Wisconsin Farmers Union (WFU) is seeking an intern to assist with the planning and scheduling of the 2026 Wisconsin Farmers Union Farm and Rural Lobby Day in Madison, WI on January 14, 2026. The start and end times for this internship are flexible, but will last for about 3 months, beginning in November 2025. This internship can provide first-hand experience in monitoring legislative activity in state government, communicating with state legislative offices, assisting with policy research, planning educational and advocacy aspects of Lobby Day, and supporting the organization’s 2,000 members. Interns will report to the Policy Analyst who may delegate project-specific supervision to other staff as appropriate. This position is based in the Madison, WI office, with hybrid work options available.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates should possess a high level of organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks or projects at once, creative, critical thinking skills, the confidence to work independently without much supervision, and experience in timely information gathering. A background in production agriculture, agriculture policy, and current political and environmental issues facing rural communities is a plus. Additional qualifications include:
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Dedication to customer service when interacting with members and legislators via telephone or email
• Proficiency in Microsoft programs and videoconferencing platforms
WFU offers compensation of $15.00/hour for our interns and additionally covers travel expenses to attend in-person Farmers Union events. WFU also provides a dedicated, clean, and inviting workspace and wireless internet access. We also provide a great team of coworkers and members across the state.
