Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant General Manager (AGM) to lead day-to-day operations at Bessie’s Burgers and More. The AGM will be responsible for overseeing staff, maintaining operational excellence, ensuring profitability, and upholding the values and vision of the Bessie’s brand.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, hands-on leader, and business-minded professional who is passionate about great food, great people, and great service.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team (front and back of house).
  • Lead by example through professionalism, integrity, and a positive attitude.
  • Create and maintain a respectful, inclusive, and motivating work environment.
  • Manage scheduling, staffing levels, and shift coverage to ensure efficient operations.

Operations & Standards

  • Oversee daily restaurant operations to ensure quality, consistency, and guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and service presentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Implement and monitor operational systems for inventory control, waste reduction, and cost management.

Financial Oversight

  • Manage payroll, budgets, sales goals, and evaluate monthly profit and loss (P&L) statements for opportunities of sale advancements.
  • Analyze financial performance and identify opportunities for growth and efficiency.
  • Oversee cash handling procedures and ensure accuracy in reporting.

Customer Experience

  • Foster a welcoming and positive guest experience every time.
  • Handle customer concerns with professionalism, fairness, and care.
  • Build community relationships and support marketing efforts to grow brand awareness.

Brand Stewardship

  • Uphold the values and mission of Bessie’s brand in every aspect of operations.
  • Collaborate with ownership to execute strategic initiatives and maintain brand consistency.
  • Represent Bessie’s Burgers and More with pride and accountability in the community.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of management experience in the restaurant or hospitality industry (required).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, staff, and daily operations effectively.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and ServSafe certification (required).
  • Proficiency with Toast - POS systems, scheduling tools, and basic computer applications.
  • Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • A passion for food, hospitality, and building a positive workplace culture.
