The Casting Department Lead is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations and manpower of the department. This role is crucial for ensuring that all products are cast with precision and meet high-quality standards. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader, mentor, and trainer, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to safety and quality control.
Responsibilities Include by Not Limited to:
- Manpower Management: Assign daily work stations to employees, ensuring they understand their duties. Report discipline issues, train and mentor employees, and develop machine operators.
- Quality Assurance: Verify that products are cast according to established processes and meet all specifications for weight, dimensions, and visual quality (e.g., no warp, no cracks).
- Process Oversight: Ensure correct auto-caster setup, scan proper bar codes, and perform machine calibrations as needed. Determine gel time and demold products at the correct time.
- Paperwork and Reporting: Complete and submit accurate daily paperwork, including the "Solid Surface daily report" and "Order/Run/Cast" sheets.
- Safety & Housekeeping: Ensure all employees wear safety glasses and are appropriately dressed. Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle acetone and catalyst according to safety protocols.
- Inventory Management: Check melamine stock daily and complete an inventory checklist on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a production environment.
- Strong understanding of casting procedures and quality standards.
- Ability to train, mentor, and coach a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and solving issues.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
Additional Details:
- Schedule: FT 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with overtime as required
- Salary: Hourly pay between $26 and $30, based on experience
