Operations/Maintenance Team (Summer Staff)

Overview:
Maintenance Staff are members of the Operations Department, report to the Operations Supervisor, and ensure the cleaning and functionality of YSSC’s facilities and daily activities. As with all YSSC staff members, Maintenance Staff ultimately strive through their work to help accomplish the purpose of YSSC.


Housekeeping/Maintenance Responsibilities – Daily/weekly responsibilities of the department include:
1. General cleaning of facilities, living areas, public areas and vehicles.
2. Cleaning of dishes and food service-related equipment.
3. Care and maintenance of lawns and grounds (mowing, watering, weeding, etc.), laundry room, staff lounge,
swimming pool, campfire ring.
4. Special projects such as painting, constructing/building, and repairing equipment/ facilities.
5. Participating in Staff Training and weekly devotion opportunities.
6. Stocking, organizing and staffing the camp store (the “Canteen’).
7. Assisting program staff with special events such as opening day, adventure games, celebrations, etc.
8. Providing supervision & care to campers as a “cabin buddy” (optional), at meal times, after lights out, in
emergency, or as requested.
9. Possibly serve as a bus chaperone to and from camp at least once during the summer.
10. Other duties as requested.


Qualifications:
1. Be able to articulate a personal faith in God and forgiveness of sin based on salvation by grace through the
death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
2. Possess strong work ethic and complete projects.
3. Work well with others, as well as independently with minimal supervision.
4. Have the strength and endurance to work a physically active 6-day/week job as well as participate in
projects such as lifting, digging, loading, repairing, etc.
5. Able to lift up to 40lbs.
6. Able to walk around camp roughly 2-3 miles per day outside in hot weather conditions.
