Club Med Manager (Summer Staff)
Overview:
The Club Med Manager (CMM) is a member of the Operations Staff and reports to the Directors. The CMM has responsibility for direct supervision and care of campers and staff who are in the care of Club Med, and for the overall health and safety of YSSC.
Responsibilities Include:
- Assist department heads in ensuring the overall health and safety of campers and staff, including upholding accreditation standards provided the American Camp Association
- Arrive at camp early to receive training, set up health center, become familiar with local doctors, urgent care, hospitals, pharmacies.
- Review all staff medical forms and conduct health screening of all staff members prior to arrival of campers to ensure complete information, possession of health insurance, and appropriate medical support for each staff member during summer.
- Orient and supervise Club Med Assistant throughout the summer.
- Orient and support the Guest Registered Nurse each session.
- Orient staff on general health and hygiene guidelines, including use of first aid kits.
- Review all camper medical forms prior to each session, ensuring complete information and dispensing appropriate information to other depts as needed, including dietary needs to kitchen, etc.
- Contact parents as needed regarding their campers’ health issues and treatment.
- Accompany or assign other appropriate staff members to accompany campers on doctor/urgent care visits.
- Maintain cleanliness of Club Med including daily/weekly cleaning.
- Monitor traffic in Club Med in order to maintain a restful, healthful environment.
- Meet regularly with Directors for evaluation, safety recommendations, planning for special camper needs, etc.
- Close down, inventory, and pack up Club Med at end of summer.
With assistance from the Guest Registered Nurse and Club Med Assistant:
- Screen campers during registration on first day of each session.
- Staff health center 30 minutes before/after meals, before bedtime, or as required due to camper illness/injury.
- Collect and dispense daily vitamins/medications to campers, logging all medications given.
- Administer first aid and other appropriate treatment to campers as needed.
- In the cases of serious illness or injury, assess status of camper/staff, administer initial treatment, and seek additional medical emergency support.
- Maintain records and logs of medical activity/treatment provided to campers and staff.
- Prepare all first aid kits for both onsite locations and offsite trips.
- Complete pre/post trip health screenings/evaluations for offsite trips.
- Provide advice, medical attention, appointment scheduling to staff members as needed.
Other Qualifications:
- Have completed at least two years of nursing school or relevant. medical training, including clinical experience
- Have current CPR/AED/1st Aid certification.
- Be able to drive to doctor or emergency care and have driver’s license in good standing.
- Be able to lift/assist campers or staff.
- Be able to get to remote areas of camp quickly.
- Be able to provide appropriate supervision of campers while in your care.
- Be able to assess unsafe or unhealthy conditions of camp.
- Be able to articulate a personal faith in God and forgiveness of sin based on salvation by grace through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
