EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
CERTIFICATION:
Forklift Certification – Must be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire date
High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.
PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY:
Facilitate the receiving, stocking, delivery and retrieval of multiple items necessary to provide quality public education; and to maintain a clean and safe educational environment at District campuses and departments.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for receiving stock, verifying stock quantities, and stock condition.
2. Packages, labels, and routes stock items to assigned warehouse storage locations.
3. Pulls orders for delivery to maintenance and transportation personnel.
4.. Provides emergency pickup and delivery service of inventory items to maintenance and transportation personnel at job sites (Hotshots).
5. Inputs warehouse transactions into Lawson/Infor Inventory system.
6. Rotates existing stock to support a first in/first out (FIFO) stock picking schedule.
7. Conducts periodic cycle counts on inventory, tool, and equipment assets.
8. Operates material handling equipment including forklift, pallet jack and hand dolly to load and unload warehouse items.
9. Maintains, issues, and tracks maintenance tool and equipment assets using computerized program.
10. Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly warehouse facility.
11. Cross training to cover all job duties as assigned at the General Warehouse.
12. Provides over the counter service for walk in customers.
13. Provides warehouse support for maintenance and transportation second shift.
14. Maintains confidentiality of information.
15. Reports to work on time every day.
16. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination to include vision, hearing, alcohol and drug testing
• Knowledge of automated or computerized system operation
• Knowledge of record keeping practices
• Knowledge of safety practices
• Skill in lifting heavy packages and objects
• Skill in operating forklift or other materials handling equipment
• Skill in operating large vehicles in tight and congested areas
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to operate and maintain material handling equipment including but not limited to forklifts, pallet jacks, dollies and hydraulic lift gates
• Ability to position and correctly use dock levelers
• Ability to recognize and use various hand tools
• Valid Texas Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and a driving record that meets the requirements of the District (Must be obtained within six (6) months of hire date- training is provided)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee must frequently drive District vehicles in the performance of assigned tasks.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to rick of electrical shock; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and risk of vibration. The employee is occasionally required to work in confined spaces. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
