Legislative Intern

The office of the Utah State Auditor is seeking motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join our team as Legislative Interns for the 2026 Legislative Session. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the legislative process, public policy development, and constituent engagement. Interns will work closely with staff to support daily operations, conduct research, and assist with communications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct policy research and summarize legislative proposals.
- Attend committee hearings, briefings, and other relevant events.
- Draft memos, reports, and correspondence.
- Assist with tracking legislation and preparing updates.
- Support constituent services and outreach efforts.
- Help manage social media and communications related to legislative initiatives.
- Perform administrative tasks as needed to support the legislative team.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college or university program (Political Science, Public Policy, Law, Communications, Business Management, or a related field).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in the office every day during the legislative session.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Interest in government, public service, and policy-making.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Understanding of the office of the Utah State Auditor and current events.
- Professional demeanor and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
