Human Resources Intern

THE ROLE

We are seeking an energetic, responsible intern to join our growing organization. In this position, you will be expected to learn the ins-and-outs of our daily routines and procedures. Along the way, you will be provided with opportunities to utilize and expand upon your current knowledge with hands-on projects and daily tasks. With us you will gain real-world experience with recruiting, employee engagement, and the coordination of HR policies and procedures.  Grandstand is dedicated to developing successful individuals. MAJOR DUTIES

  • Review, collaborate, and assist with identifying qualified applicants and printing applications for the hiring manager(s)
  • Work with hiring manager(s) to set up interview, email confirmation and personality profile assessment to applicant
  • Attend and participate in new hire orientation and on-boarding
  • Participate in and conduct phone screens and interviews for potential employees
  • Setup, email and track online sexual harassment training and new hire surveys
  • Complete reference checks
  • Assist with revisions, updates and development of HR forms, documents, and policies
  • Assist in organizing company events, i.e., employee luncheon and other morale building events
  • Work with Marketing on internal communication of employee engagement activities and collaborate on ways to showcase results, i.e., using a compilation of testimonials/pictures, creating, printing, and posting fliers, designing slides to post on company TV's
  • Present an overview of learned skills and/or accomplishments to Leadership Team at the end of the internship
  • Additional duties as assigned by the HR Specialist, Workplace Experience Manager or HR Director

 

THE ESSENTIALS

  • Junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, or a Human Resources related program
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail, with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a positive and professional attitude when interacting with employees or customers
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy with the ability to handle information and situations
  • Ability to exercise good judgement and apply independent, critical thinking but also to follow instructions and take direction
  • Able to work a minimum of 15 - 20 hours per week
  • Regular and reliable attendance
  • Be dependable and prompt

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Level 2: Light work
  • Ability to type/enter data in computer, and operate basic office equipment and phones
  • Regularly required to read computer screens and mail, talk or hear on the phone, and read small type
  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, kneel, bend down, use hands to finger handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms to open cabinet drawers to file or retrieve information
  • Ability to occasionally lift, reach, finger (pinch/pick); frequently stand, crouch/squat (bend legs/spine), kneel, stoop (bend at the waist), push and pull cabinet drawers/doors to file or retrieve information using arm/hand
  • Ability to lift carry up to 25 pounds
