Analyst, Strategic Initiatives Internship

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

As an Analyst, Strategic Initiatives, you will gain hands-on experience from day one in a highly dynamic role. Analysts will be expected to work across various strategic initiatives at American Equity (AE) and broader Brookfield Wealth Solutions (BWS), which could include M&A, financings, product design, capital management, corporate development, financial analysis, accounting, and more. This role offers mentorship from seasoned investment, finance and senior leadership professionals across both Brookfield and American Equity, with numerous opportunities to demonstrate skills and business acumen.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Successful candidates will be self-starters who can solve wide-range of complex problems. Working alongside both BWS and AE’s leadership, you will partner directly to:

  • Collaborate and support in execution of value-creation initiatives across BWS, American National and AE
  • Prepare presentations and other analyses to support senior leadership decision-making, as well as communications with external stakeholders
  • Develop financial and insurance capital models (including public company valuation, credit analysis, and insurance capital impacts)
  • Conduct research and provide strategic advisory to senior leadership on the development of various strategies, products, end-markets, and potential transaction opportunities
  • Travel opportunities with affiliate entities.
  • Completes project and support tasks with guidance from mentor and department leader.
  • Collaborates with fellow interns across departments on a strategic, cross-functional initiative that drives meaningful business impact.
  • Perform ad hoc reporting and other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics or other related field of study.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Prior exposure to investment banking, private equity, credit, or asset management
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with close attention to detail
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite particularly in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Collaborate and support in execution of value-creation initiatives across BWS, American National and AE
  • Prepare presentations and other analyses to support senior leadership decision-making, as well as communications with external stakeholders
  • Develop financial and insurance capital models (including public company valuation, credit analysis, and insurance capital impacts)
