Human Resources Intern

Reports To: Senior Director of People & Culture
Department: People & Culture
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Location: Worcester, MA (Hybrid Schedule)
Schedule: Approximately 15–20 hours per week; flexible schedule available
Compensation: Unpaid academic internship
Term: Ongoing placement

Position Summary

The Human Resources Intern supports the People & Culture Department with daily operations and special projects that strengthen employee experience, organizational culture, and compliance. This position offers hands-on experience in nonprofit human resources work, including recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, and HR administration. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, professional, and eager to learn about HR in a mission-driven organization dedicated to supporting women and children.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with recruitment efforts, including drafting and posting job descriptions, screening resumes, and scheduling interviews.
  • Support new hire onboarding and orientation processes.
  • Help maintain and organize personnel files and HR databases while ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Assist with employee engagement, recognition, and wellness initiatives.
  • Provide administrative support for HR communications, trainings, and compliance tracking.
  • Conduct research on HR best practices and assist with policy and procedure updates.
  • Participate in team meetings and provide general administrative support as needed.

 

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfortable learning new systems.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Interest in human resources, nonprofit management, or organizational development.
