Restaurant Management Internship

Location: Las Vegas, NV
Compensation: $16-19/hour
Schedule: Friday-Sunday, approximately 20-25 hours/week (peak service periods)
Duration: 3-month commitment
Employment Type: Part-time, at-will employment

About the Opportunity

Trattoria Italia is seeking a motivated hospitality management student for a hands-on restaurant management internship. This is a unique opportunity to gain real-world management experience in an authentic Italian restaurant while working alongside a strategic consultant on a business turnaround.

Unlike typical internships that involve shadowing or basic tasks, you'll have genuine operational responsibility during our busiest service periods, giving you valuable experience you can leverage throughout your hospitality career.

What You'll Do

Operational Management:

  • Oversee daily restaurant operations during Friday-Sunday service, ensuring high standards of food quality and customer service
  • Monitor and support proper timekeeping, cash handling, and POS system operations
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and cleanliness standards
  • Handle real-time problem-solving and guest inquiries with professionalism

Staff Leadership:

  • Supervise and support restaurant staff during service
  • Optimize staff scheduling and shift management
  • Implement training on operational procedures

Business Operations:

  • Monitor food quality, presentation, and service standards
  • Track key operational metrics (covers, average check, service times)
  • Assist with inventory management and vendor coordination
  • Participate in weekly operational reviews with ownership and consultant

Qualifications

Required:

  • Currently enrolled in/recent graduate from hospitality management, restaurant management, culinary management, or related program at UNLV, CSN, or similar institution
  • Previous experience in food service or hospitality (server, host, supervisor, etc.)
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work weekend shifts (Friday-Sunday)
  • Food Handler Card (or ability to obtain immediately)
  • Professional demeanor and strong work ethic

Preferred:

  • Restaurant or food service management/supervisory experience
  • POS system experience
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and procedures
  • Experience in casual or fine dining environments
  • Interest in restaurant operations and small business management
