Youth Mentor Program Coordinator (Part-Time)
The International Institute of Southwest Missouri (IISMO) is seeking a passionate and organized Youth Mentor Program Coordinator to lead our youth mentoring initiatives for refugee and immigrant youth. This position plays a key role in supporting young people ages 15–30 as they navigate academic, career, and personal goals through one-on-one mentorship and community engagement. The ideal candidate will be committed to empowering youth, building strong community connections, and promoting the Institute's mission of integration and self-sufficiency.
This position is funded through September 30, 2026
Key Responsibilities
Program Coordination & Youth Engagement (40%)
Recruit refugee and immigrant youth participants and conduct initial assessments.
Develop individualized plans focused on each participant's goals and interests.
Coordinate youth participation in workshops, events, and programming.
Facilitate transportation and ensure participant engagement and safety.
Mentor Recruitment & Development (30%)
Recruit, screen, and train volunteer mentors in collaboration with staff and community partners.
Match mentors and mentees based on shared interests and goals.
Conduct regular check-ins to monitor progress and provide guidance.
Documentation & Reporting (20%)
Maintain accurate documentation and assessments for clients and volunteers.
Prepare monthly program reports and evaluations in compliance with contract requirements.
Additional Duties (10%)
Represent IISMO in community meetings and events.
Support internal communication, collaboration, and program promotion.
Participate in departmental and all-staff meetings.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Minimum of 90 college credit hours toward a degree in education, social work, or a related field.
Experience working with youth or refugee/immigrant populations preferred.
Fluency in Swahili, Russian, Pashto, Dari, or Chin is a plus.
Skills & Abilities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to facilitate groups and engage diverse youth populations.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
Commitment to cultural sensitivity, inclusion, and the Institute's mission.
