Mechanical Engineering Technology Co-op

  1. Work directly with design engineering, operations, management, and shop floor teams. 
    • Approximately 50/50 split between shop floor and office work overall with day-to-day variation based on current business needs.
  2. Create and/or modify CNC machine code.
  3. Design and assist in the manufacture of shop tools, tooling, and fixtures.
  4. Create new and modify existing part designs, Autodesk Inventor models, and drawings.
  5. Author and/or update work instructions and other documents relating to Design Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering processes including but not limited to:
    • CNC Machine setups
    • CAM Solid Model to CNC G-Code creation
    • Design for manufacturability guides
    • CNC Machine tolerance capabilities
  6. Use the company’s ERP database to find and use part metadata.
  7. Participate in other miscellaneous shop activities including assembly and/or test of fluid drives.
  8. Interact with Sales, Shipping/Receiving, Vendors, Customers, and other internal team members.

The overarching goals for this position are to improve the utilization of our large CNC machines, increase standardization of their setups, improve design for manufacturability related to those machines, and reduce the occurrence of quality defects.
