PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION
The Director of the Missouri Slope Foundation is responsible for leading the fundraising programs on behalf of the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center Foundation (the Foundation) and enhancing the mission established by the Board of Directors. The role works closely with the Foundation Board and participates in other appropriate committees at the invitation of the CEO.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Manages the development programs aimed at optimizing major gifts, estate gifts, corporate gifts, grants, and events.
- Collaborates closely with high-level management and board members to implement and manage development programs.
- Actively participates in the daily tasks of development programs and records activities using CRM software.
- Prepares and submits monthly reports detailing activities and program outcomes.
- Solicits, develops, and engages Foundation board members through verbal and written communication.
- Attends board meetings and prepares reports on Foundation activity.
- Plans and budgets for the Foundation each fiscal year by developing a staffing and operational plan to achieve the Foundation's goals and growth.
- Maintains visibility in the community, including participation and membership in civic and professional organizations.
- Actively seeks new corporate and foundation funding sources while maintaining relationships with current and past donors by representing Missouri Slope in meetings with potential funding sources.
- Manages ongoing communication with member churches and congregations.
- Works collaboratively with staff and board members to identify avenues for economic support for programs and projects.
- Examines ways to package and market these programs to philanthropic supporters.
- Maintains knowledge about the external environment as it relates to the senior living industry.
- Understands donor gift tracking and CRM software and how to use it effectively to maximize fundraising efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, communications, political science, or related field. Three years of management experience with a foundation, development, or advocacy organization, or in sales-client relations with an established book of business. A master’s degree and certifications in fundraising are preferred.
- Ability to travel outside the local area to attend donor meetings, workshops, temple talks, organizational fundraisers, or other events.
- Successfully pass a drug test, background check, including criminal history, certification registries, and employment history.
- Completion of training as required by Missouri Slope.

- Knowledgeable in donor relations, strategic planning, board engagement, gift tax laws, grant writing, and understanding the sales process.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with people easily.
- Strong organizational skills; disciplined and capable of managing multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
- Knowledgeable in marketing strategies and techniques, long-range planning processes, and various gift-giving options.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision and also as part of a team.
- Demonstrates the ability to manage resources and multiple projects while adhering to regulatory and program requirements.
- Public speaking experience.
- Proficient in computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office applications.
- Maintains a professional demeanor with customers and in the community while representing the company.
- Capable of making ethical and professional decisions.
