Summer Human Resources Intern

Mayflower Distributing is a leading distributor of balloons, helium, party supplies and food service products. With distribution centers in Minnesota and California, Mayflower is providing more and more customers with quicker ground shipments and less days in transit, helping all of us to “enjoy the party” sooner!

We are seeking a detail-oriented and enthusiastic Summer Huma Resources Intern to support Mayflower Distributing’s HR team in day-to-day administrative functions, recruitment, employee engagement, and benefits-related initiatives. This internship provides hands-on experience in a fast-paced HR environment and offers a pathway to full-time employment upon graduation.

Duties: 

  • Oversee daily operations of three facilities and ensure smooth functioning of various departments
  • Assist the HR Manager with administrative tasks, including completing Verifications of Employment (VOEs) and maintaining employee records.
  • Support recruitment efforts by reviewing resumes, helping with candidate screening, and coordinating interview schedules.
  • Participate in planning and executing employee appreciation events and engagement activities.
  • Gain exposure to employee benefits by sitting in on plan renewal and open enrollment meetings.
  • Assist in onboarding and orientation processes for new hires.
  • Conduct research on HR best practices and assist with ad hoc HR projects as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive employee information.

As a Summer HR Intern, you’ll gain exposure to all facets of Human Resources, including:

  • Recruiting and talent acquisition processes.
  • Employee benefits administration and planning.
  • Employee engagement and appreciation initiatives.
  • HR administration, onboarding, and recordkeeping.
  • Insights into employee relations and HR best practices.

Qualifications: 

  • Currently pursuing a BS/BA in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited university, with a graduation date of Spring 2027.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0.
  • Must be able to commit to a full 12-week internship, working 32-40 hours per week.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and eager to learn in a collaborative team environment.
  • Must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) and not require sponsorship for employment now or in the future.

Must have reliable transportation for daily commuting to and from the office.
