Upward Bound Tutor

Position: Upward Bound Classic Tutor

Qualifications: Candidates are to possess excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; must have good attendance record.

Experience: Must have a demonstrated ability to understand and work well with first-generation, low-income, and/or high-risk high school students.

Tutor’s Responsibilities are as follows:

• Maintain student attendance
• Assist students in assignments and projects
• Structure tutoring environment to improve student’s knowledge in subject
• Provide individual study sessions and tutorial services
• Monitor student’s behavior in tutoring environment
• Monitor grades
• Contact students and parents
• Other related duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications: Academic and instructional experience in multiple levels of math including Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Calculus, and Trigonometry. Must be well versed in logical reasoning, abstract thinking, intense curiosity, persistent problem-solving, meticulous attention to detail, and creativity in making novel connections between concepts. Business casual attire required.
