2026 New England PGA Communications Internship

The PGA of America is the largest working sports organization in the world with over 27,000 members and apprentices and over 400 staff members throughout the country. As “experts in the game and business of golf,” the purpose of the PGA is to promote the enjoyment of and involvement in the game of golf, and to contribute to its growth by serving millions of people throughout its 41 Sections nationwide.

 The New England Section of the PGA of America is headquartered in Boylston, MA, and serves more than 700 golf facilities and over 1100 professional Members and Associates throughout Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and Rhode Island. In addition to managing the day-to-day affairs of the New England PGA and its Foundation, the Section operates the New England PGA Jr TOUR (“Junior Tour”). The Jr TOUR is the leading and most comprehensive tour in New England, as it consists of more than 1300 junior members and over 150 tournaments conducted annually.

The NEPGA Communications Intern will be responsible for preparing and distributing NEPGA News articles, as well as writing tournament press releases for PGA Professional events, the New England Series (Amateur Tour), and NEPGA Jr. Tour Tournaments. Additional duties include overseeing the operation and maintenance of the three New England PGA websites and supporting all other communications initiatives within the organization.

Primary responsibilities will focus on day-to-day content creation, including graphic design, email marketing, and photo/video production. The intern will also manage regular updates to NEPGA’s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and Vimeo pages, ensuring timely maintenance of all online photo and video content.

 

Purpose: To coordinate and expand coverage of The New England PGA through print and online media.

Internship Dates:

6 months: May 1 – October 1, 2026 (start and finish dates are somewhat flexible based on the successful applicant’s school schedules).

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Write/Communicate tournament press releases, Section news articles and short stories 
  2. Maintenance of websites: NEPGA, New England Series, and NEPGA Jr Tour websites
  3. Manage/update NEPGA Social Media websites (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube/Vimeo)
  4. Assist in marketing & promotion of all NEPGA programs.
  5. Manage all online photo and video operations
  6. Tournament organization/preparation in the NEPGA office and possibly on-site
  7. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  1. Working knowledge of the game of golf is a plus
  2. Interest in sports journalism
  3. Proficiency with computers, especially Microsoft Word, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Vimeo and YouTube. Canva, Adobe Photoshop, and website software programs
  4. Exemplary written and oral communication skills
  5. Strong work ethic
  6. Ability to work long hours
  7. Stand and move around on foot for extended periods of time
  8. Highly organized, punctual, energetic, and a “self-starter”
  9. Must be in college or a recent graduate
  10. Must live in the New England Region, as housing is not provided

Tournament Travel:

Tournaments will be spread throughout the entire New England Section (MA, VT, NH, ME, and RI), but most are in the suburbs of Boston/Metro area. Interns can expect to work a tournament at a different golf course each day and will be responsible for their own transportation to and from all tournaments. Carpooling to tournaments is allowed and strongly encouraged.

Compensation:

• Official compensation: $15.00/hr (min wage)

• Per Diem compensation: $30 per event (mileage and food)

• PGA staff golf shirts and hats

• School credit (if applicable)
