Communications and Outreach Intern

About
The Nebraska Wheat Board oversees the wheat checkoff funds, focusing on boosting the value and long-term viability of Nebraska wheat through promotion, education, international/domestic marketing and research.

The Nebraska Wheat Growers Association (NWGA) is a membership-based organization dedicated to enhancing the profitability of Nebraska’s wheat producers through advocacy and education.

Position Summary
Communications and Outreach Internship with Nebraska Wheat in Lincoln, NE
Timeframe
Summer 2026
Start and end dates are flexible
Duties and Responsibilities
•     Coordinate communication efforts, including, but not limited to:
o  Managing social media platforms to promote positive messages about Nebraska Wheat and agriculture
o  Creating content and designing graphics for press releases, articles, brochures, newsletter, ect
o  Overseeing website updates, member newsletters and weekly crop report
•     Assist with outreach events and activities
•     Provide general office support and assist with day-to-day project coordination
•     Internship will be tailored to the student’s interest and skills

Qualifications
Any student enrolled in a post-secondary institution located near Lincoln, Nebraska with the following qualifications:
•     Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Power Point ect.)
•     Familiarity with design software such as InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro and Canva
•     Experience with social media and video editing
•     Proven communication skills in written, verbal and online forms of communication
•     Ability to work independently and in a team environment
•     Self-motivated, willingness to learn, reliable, proactive and dedicated
•     Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
•     Ag background beneficial but not required
•     Preference will be given to students with a Junior standing or above
•     Internship duration will take place in the Nebraska Wheat office

Hours Per Week
•     May 2026 – August 2026: 40 hours per week
•     Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (some work/travel will be on nights or weekends)
