Dean of Students

OVERVIEW OF ROLE

Match Charter Public High School has an opening for a Dean of Students in a long-term substitute role. The desired start date is November 3, 2025 and will continue for approximately six months. There is the potential for continued employment after that time, but it is not guaranteed. The Dean position is based at Match High School, located on 1001 Commonwealth Ave. in Brighton. 

The primary role of the Dean of Students is to help create and sustain a school culture that is safe, healthy, joyful and conducive to learning at all times. A Dean of Students proactively creates a positive culture by teaching students, and by planning and facilitating joyful events, activities and programming. In addition, the Dean of Students supports students, families and staff through equitable and consistent enforcement of policies and procedures, building and maintaining relationships with students and families, and ensuring all stakeholders are brought into the school’s goals.

The compensation for the Dean of Students position starts at an annual salary rate of  $72,114 and can be higher for candidates with prior relevant experience.  Match offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes 90% coverage of health insurance costs and student loan repayment assistance. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach classes and run student groups on character education, life skills, restorative practices, and leadership skills development.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with teachers, parents, and the community to improve school culture.
  • Ensure equitable and consistent enforcement of school policies and procedures.
  • Skillfully resolve conflicts, keeping all community members physically and emotionally safe. 
  • Plan regular events that encourage students to build relationships, experience joy, and co-create a positive community. 
  • Additional responsibilities as needed.
     

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for applicants who have: 

  • 1-2 years of previous educational experience in a high-needs education setting. Prior dean or teaching experience is a strongly preferred
  • A passing score on Communications and Literacy MTEL, or earn a passing score within one of year of date of hire
  • A strong commitment to the mission and vision of Match
  • Unwavering belief that every student can be successful
  • Ability to create strong relationships with students while holding them to high academic and behavioral standards
  • Strong event planning and communication skills
  • Track record of success in working with students in an urban setting
  • Ability to problem solve collaboratively
  • A desire to continually improve their practice as a school professional by taking and implementing feedback
