The Wall Street Journal Sports Journalism Internship, New York (Summer 2026)

Are you a driven, student journalist eager to work in an award-winning newsroom before your senior year? The Wall Street Journal sports internship offers an unparalleled opportunity for college juniors to gain practical work experience in our award-winning newsrooms in New York with mentorship and tailored training sessions. Graduate students enrolled in a degree program by the application deadline – October 31, 2025 – who are returning to school in the fall are also eligible to apply. The Journal’s sports team is known for its distinctive coverage, insightful analysis and unconventional perspectives on the biggest sports news of the day. You will work closely with other reporters and editors to deliver news and feature stories. You will be expected to generate your own story ideas and follow those stories through to completion with supervision and guidance from an editor.

We are looking for ambitious students who think foremost about the audience and are able to work independently under deadline pressure. You don’t need to be a business or economics expert, but a commitment to high journalistic standards is a must. A demonstrated interest in sportswriting is a plus.

You should have completed at least one prior reporting internship with another professional media organization or published exceptional work with a campus news outlet or as a freelancer.
