The Wall Street Journal Business, Finance & Economics Reporting Internships (Summer 2026)
Are you a driven, student journalist eager to work in an award-winning newsroom before your senior year? The Wall Street Journal internship program offers an unparalleled opportunity for college juniors to gain practical work experience in our award-winning newsrooms in New York, Detroit, San Francisco and Los Angeles with mentorship and tailored training sessions. Graduate students enrolled in a degree program by the application deadline – October 31, 2025 – who are returning to school in the fall are also eligible to apply. We are looking for ambitious students who think foremost about the audience and are able to work independently under deadline pressure. You don’t need to be a business or economics expert, but a commitment to high journalistic standards is a must.
Desk assignments may include:
Business, New York
Automobiles, Detroit
Technology, San Francisco
Media & Entertainment, Los Angeles or New York
Economics, New York
Real Estate, New York
Personal Technology Reporting, New York
Personal Finance Reporting, New York
You will:
Work closely with other reporters and editors to deliver prompt, accurate reporting of news.
Have the opportunity to write features and cover breaking news ranging from economic indicators and company earnings to big industry or national trends.
Pitch your own stories, videos, graphics and/or social posts and follow them through to completion with supervision and guidance from an editor.
You have:
Completed at least one prior reporting internship with another professional media organization or published exceptional work with a campus news outlet or as a freelancer.
Dedication to high journalism standards.
Excellent writing and reporting skills.
A demonstrated interest in business reporting is a plus, though prior business or economics reporting experience isn’t required.
Experience with and interest in responsible AI experimentation, data analysis, data-driven projects is encouraged.
